The economists who have contributed to this book are world class and some of the essays are very readable for the non-economist like me who took econ 101,102 in 1954. but some essays have a great deal of math equations and controlled modeling making it far too difficult for average me. However, the summations and insights are very helpful in my remembrance of Picketty and understanding today's wealth distribution inequities. There were new insights galore and the debates were illuminating. I am on the last chapters...not completely read yet.

A must read, even for those who've read Piketty's book: It gives you an idea how the debate about income inequality is developing among economists. Just about every contribution adds to the debate, and most are quite accessible even to non-economists. Very, very interesting, in some ways, even more interesting than Piketty's masterpiece - more fun to read too, you get to see so many different points of view. Highly recommended.

I read the entire Piketty Capital In the 21rst Century. It was refreshing to read After Piketty and read it in half the time. The book gives different perspectives on Piketty's book, some of the opinions go off topic. Be sure to have Piketty's book nearby to fact check.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against spirits! And the battle ground is in your mind and heart. The devil is the father of lies. This book will help you recongnize these lies and schemes better and show you how to fight them! And it will help you understand that the war has been won because Jesus unarmed the enemy of all it's weapons at the cross! The enemy is defeated!

Everyone needs to know there is evil out there...but you cannot look for Satan in every corner or under every bed, or see "him" as a face in the wallpaper...but you have to be aware that he is real and out there...you can't see, hear, or touch him but he wants to trip you up. This is a good little book.

This book was recommended by one of the pastors that leads my fellowship group. It's a little difficult to rate a book written mostly in Olde English. But, this book was so profound! It's so relevant - it reminded me that Satan uses the same devices to tempt us, because humankind has fallen for the same traps throughout history! There are many Scripture quotations that drive home each point the author makes, which I found useful. I often would stop reading the book and look up the passage in my bible, then think "Ahhh, I see"...this book has been very helpful in keeping me focused in my daily walk.

If you want a book that will make you look away from yourself, convict you of your insufficiencies and weaknesses, and to glory in Christ, this book is for you. Unlike many today in the church, Thomas Brooks had a keen awareness of the reality of spiritual warfare, and he poured his soul into equipping the saints to fight the battle.

I am a lover of the Puritans! Having done my doctoral work on a Puritan, I am very familiar with their writings. This particular version of "Precious Remedies Against Satan's Devices" by Thomas Brooks, is a great blessing. The difficult words, no longer or rarely used today, and some of the archaic sentence structure have been modernized without removing the beautiful prose and original flavor of author. This particular Kindle version is much more accessible to readers who find it difficult to read Elizabethan English. Thomas Brooks, along with Thomas Watson, are the two most readable puritans and this particular version makes Brooks even more accessible to readers today. The puritans were students of their own hearts and they wrote out of their own self examination. Brooks knows how to apply God's Word in a clear, direct, and encouraging way. I highly recommend this book for anyone wanting to grow in Christ likeness!

The writing is a style from a much earlier period which takes a while to pick up. But it is extremely well organized and methodical and all points are backed up by scriptural references. I plan on re-reading. It can be a good tool for real change. Already using a few of the arguments to preach to myself.

Wonderful book. This is very helpful to any pilgrim on the journey. This particular edition is cheap for these reasons: 1. Very small font--8 maybe. 2. No page numbers. 3. The cover only covers the front--the spine and back are blank. Still a wonderful book.

Brooks is an amazing communicator of biblical truth. His excellent use of scripture is refreshing in modern day church culture. The systematic breakdown of Satan's methods and the ways in which Christians can combat them, makes this book a great study tool.
