I owned a copy of Worst-Case Scenario when I was younger. Now that I'm much older, I realize most of this book is more humor-oriented, and only maybe half of the scenarios are semi-interesting (and probably a smaller portion is something you'll actually have a chance of living through). The how-to's for each scenario are very brief, which is a shame. Some are almost pointless, due to how brief or vaguely it's described. Think of this as more of a novelty guide for the bathroom or coffee table, that occasionally has the interesting topic to read.If you're looking for a legitimate, hard-core survival guide, pass on this one and grab something a bit more serious.

The stories are ridiculous and not really helpful at all. I was thinking that I might actually learn something, but not really. I read once about how to survive a plane crash, I still remember what I read and was hoping that this book would be a lot of stories like that one that I would pack away in my brain to pull out at parties (or, heaven forbid, the actually scenario), but not likely.

This was a gift for my brother-in-law, who already has plenty of man skills, and he loves it. It is great for starting discussions on many subjects, and it holds a place of high rank in the bathroom, which I understand is a great compliment. The book is actually full of very interesting and useful information, though some of the "worst cases" are nothing any of us would likely experience. Still, it is wonderful for initiating debate on any number of subjects. I would suggest using it as a party game, having people take in turn reading a survival tip and then having discussion to follow. Great fodder for brain exercise. And don't let the title fool you. There are plenty of us women with "man" skills, and it is a good gift for anyone. Highly recommended.

I bought this as a graduation gift and the guy I gave it to loves it! He said it's a combination of funny and practical and "what the heck?" Info. It's not something you sit down and read all at once, but peruse at your leisure. It would be good to include with a stack of books in the guest room for overnight guests to enjoy.

It's an interesting book in that it's funny for a bit but then the attempts at humor wear off and it just seems that the jokes are "random" and juvenile.I got bored with this fast. So did everyone else I showed it to. I even tried to give it away and nobody wanted it. M

Wasnt at all what i expected. More of a parody than a survival guide. Among the entries: how to fashion an emergency menorah and how to chase off christmas carolers. Basically its liberal perspective disguised as a survival guide for entertainment. Gets 2 stars because there is a handful of interesting crap in it.

This is a truly eclectic listing of just about every unforeseen complexity that might rudely introduce itself into your life and concise advice on what to do when it does. Of course some are a lot more likely than others (your car's brakes failing vs. being caught in a giraffe stampede), but that's what makes it fun to read. Just being able to handily recall, perhaps at just the right time, how to fix a tropical fish that's gotten itself stuck in acquarum ornaments. It's that specific It also offers rather quaint hand illustrations in simple pen and ink accompanying meticulous information in simple sentences. All in all, indeed some pretty highend yet old-fashioned advice book for truly random occaisons.

Humor is born from catastrophes. God too maybe. When everything goes wrong think twice and pray. Also help yourself first if you want to live. This book is funny and full of tips that can save your life.

I bought this book for my husband as he works for American Airlines and loves planes......he loves this book and enjoys it.......great book !

This is a great, in-depth encyclopedia for modern military aircraft. Each model variance of a plane/helicopter is covered, and it envelops several countries' militaries.

As Noted by others this book appears to be missing technical data on all but the MiG-31. This was not a big deal for me as I was mainly interested in the history and the illustrations of the aircraft.I was a little disapointed that it did not feature the modern chinese types nor the AC-130 gunship variants. Apart from that this book represents good value.

I purchased this book from Airport Place Books of Indianapolis, Indiana for $1.73 plus $3.99 shipping for a total of $5.72. Great deal for a book that originally cost over $50, except when it arrived I realized why it had it's "Acceptable" rating from the seller. The bottom margin of the book from the spine out to about 3 " from the edge was stained and smelled strongly of animal urine. In some places near the front of the book the staining and smell was more than 2" from the bottom margin, and soaked so throughly that the pages stuck together through the first 110 pages of the 500 page volume. I immedaitely called a friend of mine who does professional book restoration and he is going to professionally clean this volume for an additional $14. Somehow I feel that my great deal has now gone by the wayside, I would have rather paid a few extra dollars from another book seller to get one that had not had a dog use it as a fire hydrant.

book has lots of stats. facts and pictures, but the index doesn't match the pages, so searching for anything is impossible. Also the condition of this book was poor even when it was advertised as new.

I picked up the paperback version of this book at Borders - an impulse buy. 512 pages, 8 7/8" x 11 7/8" x 1 1/4", about 4 punds and full of pictures, 3 views and profiles though as noted by an earlier reviewer, the treatment of the various aircraft is not consistent, although there is a decent history given with a number of aircraft, photos of various operators with others and many 3 views and profiles. All in all, it would be difficult to find this much information in a book several times the cost. It was first published in 2004 and the paperback in 2006.

I also bought this book at Borders on impulse, while I was looking for a DVD, because I could not believe the price($9.99!). I was really impressed with the very large selection of aircraft included in the book and the amount of photos and development history included with each one. This book is an excellent complementto the Jane's Aircraft Recognition Guide which has even more aircraft and three view illustrations and measurements for each aircraft, but very little (1 or 2 sentences per aircraft) written info. This book really shines in that category, I have NEVER seen any aviation book delve into the history of so many aircraft with such painstaking detail. This book is definitely a must have for anyone interested in military aviation, ESPECIALLY at the price; even if it cost $40 I still would have bought it.

This book is a great deal for all that you get. It has aircraft from around the world. Every aircraft has at least 2 pages of information. I am very happy with my order.
