The good: This book contains beautiful photos of a few recipes and a number of the recipes seem very tasty and relatively easy to prepare. The layout is a little unusual with the recipe instructions before the list ingredients. I actually found this refreshing as it encourages you to read the instructions before grabbing ingredients and diving into the recipe.The exercises in the second half of the book are described well and are easy to do at home without additional equipment. I really appreciate this, as you can get started right away. Each exercise has a photo to accompany the explanation. The exercises are nothing revolutionary but it's kind of nice to have an exercise plan to follow and the 30-day program seems well-balanced with regard to lower-body exercises one day and upper body the next day.The bad: Some recipes call for ingredients which are only used once and which may be difficult to obtain (fresh passion fruit, rice flour, young barley). The recipes also refer to ingredients like "Maracuya" and "oat flakes" which, while it's not difficult to do a web search and find out what those ingredients are, it would have been nice to have the alternate names (passion fruit, rolled oats) in the recipe itself.Given that it's labelled as a 30 day weight loss challenge, I would have appreciated an organized shopping list for each week, much like there's an exercise plan for each week.Most troubling, there are quite a number of editing errors in the book, mostly of a grammatical nature, although at least one recipe has the wrong title (the gluten free pancakes). There's also a slight unnatural-sounding style in the writing which makes seem as if it were poorly translated from another language.Overall it's probably worth the small amount of money you'd pay to have some new whole-foods based recipe ideas and a great selection of body-weight exercises, but I don't think I'll be making much use of this book past my initial reading of it.I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

The 30 Day Whole Food Weight Loss Challenge by Katie BanksBook starts out with offer of a free Ketogenic diet cookbook. Table of contents that are broken up into day of meals for 30 days and also warm up exercises.Introduction talks about not only food but exercise as well.Each days meals are summarized at the start of the day so you know what to expect. One color photo showing one of the meals is included.Each recipe starts with a title, directions and list of ingredients that are confusing as some are in American and some in Metric measurements.You should be able to substitute for your healtiher dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar products.There is NO nutritional information. Does include prep time and servings and calories.Each exercise comes with prep explanations and how to do the exercise and tips so you will succeed along with a diagram of a person doing it.

I just bought this and the whole concept is very intriguing. It doesn’t just tell me what I should eat, it gives me thirty days of three meals a day, all planned out with recipes to boot. It shows you the right way to get healthy. I’m having some trouble figuring out the measurements, but that’s my only complaint. One trip to the grocery and I’m ready to start. Love it. I’m gladly giving this review.

Katie has put together a great book. She is encouraging and has a friendly tone. Every day has three recipes to help you learn to cook healthy and whole food. I had two stumbling points:1. This book is laid out for physical print, as the daily exercises are in the back of the book, not integrated with an appendix for directions.2. The recipes were new to me, so I spent time wondering where I would find certain ingredients.I think this book is written for someone who is already on the diet and bored with their food options, ready to learn new recipes.

This was a nice book with everything in one place. Thirty days of recipes (breakfast, lunch, dinner). The recipes use fairly common items so you don't have to search all over to find an ingredient. They're also easy and quick to make...you don't have to be a chef, good for inexperienced cooks. Nice bonus in the back of the book are do at home exercises that require minimal equipment.The one suggestion I'd make is there should be a section of healthy snacks in case you need something to carry you over to the next meal.

I really like this book and how it lays out each day's meals. Photos are always nice in a cookbook. I like to see if my meal looks anything near what it's supposed to look like. The only thing I wasn't crazy about, and it's my complaint about a lot of meal plans, is there is not accounting for leftovers. I work. I do not have the time, nor the energy to cook every single evening after I get home from work. I have to make each day's breakfast, lunch and dinners. Other than that, the food is delish, and the recipes are easy enough to follow.Thanks Katie!

This book is an easy way to plan a month worth of meals. They meals looked easy and fun to prepare and eat. I would recommend this book if someone wanted to transition to healthy eating and they weren't on the Whole30 program. They recipes are not Whole30 compliant but, the book is an easy way to start eating healthier. I had trouble with the print on some of the exercises pages. I couldn't read them because they would not change front size on my kindle. Most of the book I could change the size of the font and could read the book fine but, the exercises pages outlined for each week were such tiny print, they were unreadable. I also found some errors in the book that I believe should have been caught when it was proofread. All in all, I think it is a very easy book to read and use and it would make eating healthy much easier than trying to figure it out on your own. The recipes are all right there.

Roger Priddy left school at 16 with just one qualification―in art. He went to Berkshire College of Art and Design and trained as an illustrator. My grandson is in to trucks and this book shows just about every book that there is. Nice clear, vivid pictures of trucks with a short description of the truck in bold letters makes for easy reading and identification. The pages are not flimsy or light and have stood up under lots of use.

If your child loves truck this is the book! What sets it apart from other truck books (Which we have many of in my house) Is that each page has an interactive question, like : "What truck would take your trash away?" , "What truck has a big black bucket?" or "How would you climb into the tractor?" It helps kids with an interest in trucks learn more about their purposes and features. Also some of the photos are very large which gives the kids a great look at the details on some of these trucks. My 2 year old will sit alone in his room and look at this book for quite a while. 5 stars!

Good, but wish I got the smaller Priddy truck book, because this one, while it has larger pages, only has less pages and only 30 trucks.

We love this book. My 2-year old is infatuated! This is purchased for his upcoming birthday. We're very happy with the book. However, our particular book was shipped from a publishing company in the UK, and has the British English spelling for several trucks (i.e. "Snow Plough" as opposed to the American English "Snow Plow"). I don't know how we were shipped a book from a 3rd party seller- I didn't specifically choose a 3rd party seller. *shrug* Mostly a minor annoyance, but became a bit more irksome when the response from the vendor states that "This should have been clearly stated at the time of purchase. So sorry if you missed it." It was obviously not clearly stated, nor is it stated at ALL on the current posting. They did offer a return, but this is a birthday gift, and I do not feel we have enough time to acquire a replacement. In the end, Kiddo can't read yet, and when he can, we can have a learning discussion about the differences between American and British English spellings.

Great book - our son loved it! But when we got this copy from Amazon, it had ONE free page inside. The first page was glued to the front cover and the back to the back cover. Even counting front and back covers as "pages", the total of pages (yes, front and back) is six (6!).We will return and ask for the "full" version. Not sure if this was a production error or if someone is running a counterfeit operation in kids books?? Amazon, we'll be in touch...

My 1 year old has recently developed an obsession with trucks, sprung from watching the garbage truck drive by our house a few weeks ago. He loves this book. It's a large board book that consists of pictures of many different types of trucks along with the types labeled. My husband and I have probably read it to him over 100 times already. Yeah, he loves it.Some of the trucks are clearly dated - the pictures look like they are models from the late 80's or early 90's. It's copyright 2002, edition published 2011. The book itself was manufactured in January 2015.

This is one of my son's very favorite books. Being a two-year-old boy, he is all about trucks and other vehicles, and he looks at this over and over. The pages of this board book are high-quality and thick. The pictures are bright and arresting. The reason I only gave it four stars, though, is that I would like it even more if it had less pictures of really obscure trucks (airport truck? brush rig?), and used the space to have bigger pictures of the more common trucks. For example, it would be easier for a child to understand what a "school bus" is if they could see the WHOLE bus, and not just the front 1/4 of it.

We already had "My big train book" and after walking through a bookstore my toddler grabbed this and spent about 15 minutes pointing out the different trucks and colors. True, it's not literature and it's not going to teach grammar, but my son now recognizes different vehicles on the road and is even more fascinated by them and tries to understand how they work.Plus, anything that isn't electronic and manages to keep a toddler entertained for 15 minutes is pure gold.

I bought this book brand new because it is supposed to have an access card to the online labs inside it. There is no card inside and the online labs are VERY crucial to the class. I will have to send the book back and get a new one and I only have a matter of a couple days before my class starts.

As a psychology major, had to order this book for an intro class and I must this provides a wonderful introduction to all basic topics of social psychology. It doesn't breeze over them either, it actually talks in an intellectual way in detail about each. You walk away from reading this with enough of an understanding to have a basic psychlogical conversation and with the hunger for more. I liked hte way the book was divided up becuase it worked in a very logical progression.

This text is very well written and keeps my attention (most of the time) while reading information that might otherwise seem a little dry. The author sometimes throws in witty comments, or lame puns to keep the reader engaged. It usually works and will get a chuckle out of me or a groan, depending on how dry the joke was. I'm not sure if this was the author's intention, but it does help bring a human aspect to scientific words being thrown around and digested.I enjoy Psychology, so I really enjoyed reading my assignments in this book. There are plenty of pictures, graphs, and side notes that help to further your knowledge about what you are reading. The vocab words with definitions are in the side bar of the pages upon which they appear in the text; I found this to be very helpful when I was running short on time and unable to read the text word for word. The summary pages at the end of each chapter were also a huge help with reviewing the chapter. Great textbook for the class!

In all honesty, this book is entirely full of relative and current up to date information. Most college students will need this book if taking on any general or introductory level psychology courses and can learn a great deal by sitting down and understanding a single chapter to its full extent. This book not only has detailed explanations on famous studies and Psychologists but also has text that is easy to understand and interpret from the readers perspective. I would absolutely recommend this book as well if considering a psychology major/minor due to how much knowledge David G. Meyers offers in a single field of study (as stated above in previouse statements).

Out of all my textbooks for university, this is one of three that I actually refused to sell back because I wanted to keep it. I have reread parts of it for fun and I often use it to explain things to my younger sisters. This book also helped me explain very sensitive subjects, such as cutting and anorexia, to the parents of younger family members who were struggling with these disorders. This book should not be used to replace a therapist or psychologist, but it does help you realize when you need to contact one. It helped me pass my class and assist some struggling family members, so this book was well worth the price. It also explained complex subjects at a level that was easy to understand.

I got this map before our vaca since we were driving. It is very detailed but it lacks any insets whatsoever which is a major drawback. Everything is set at a ratio that allows you to see the whole island on two sides but there is not detail on the cities such as Rethymo, Heraklion or Chania. We used it to get from Heraklion to Chania and then on to Elafonisi beach and if you have a similar trip planned, I would go without the map. The map is perfectly accurate at a wide overview, just not necessary for a trip to popular destinations. The highways are VERY well signed in a bit different way. Instead of signs like I-75, this way, it will simply say Chania, this way, or Elafonisi, this way. Everything is in Greek & English. Even once we were off the highway in Hania, we did actually have an "inset" map to the old harbor from Google Maps but we didn't need it. Just follow signs for Centre then Old Town/Harbor. You can't drive into the center of Old Town but the signs took us to the closest public parking.

This map saved our bacon a time or two as we explored the completely unmarked roads of Crete by car. Don't try it with the cheap tourist maps.

This map was a good guide for driving around Crete, showing the newer roads for the most part, and it was a good size to use.

First the bad news... Unlike the Road Editions map of Crete, this map does not include street plans of any of Crete's 4 major cities so I had to bring my Road Editions map with me as I have relatives living in Chania outside the town center which is shown in the Rough Guide to Crete. Now onto the good news... This map of Crete is like no other map I've ever seen before. It has a much larger scale than the 'excellent' Road Editions map, it is more current and up to date, it does NOT rip or tear as you fold and unfold it, unlike the Road Editions map which rips and tears very easily, AND it is detailed, accurate and user friendly. Furthermore, it is NOT available in Crete, at least not at any of the bookstores or tourist shops that I happened to visit. My mother is from Crete and I've been visiting Crete since I was 2 years old. I am now 43. I'd like to think I know a bit more about this fascinating island than the 'average' tourist. As someone who knows Crete as an insider I strongly recommend this map.

It contains updated information about the roads in Crete and a city map of the main harbors.

This is the ONLY Kindle eBook I have ever returned; I felt the content was not worthy of even a few dollars as in my opinion I've read more in-depth information on free websites or even other book descriptions. This is my personal opinion, you may love it - I'm an IT Manager with over 30 years experience so perhaps I'm too demanding.

I have more than 15 years experience in I.T Systems and Business Management but for the last 5 years I was doing mainly hardware repair for both elementary and secondary schools when a new manager was assigned to the department. Every meeting held during the transition period, the new manager spoke about the I.T Department being compliant to the ITIL Framework. I had never heard of ITIL before but was ready to prove myself as a valuable team player. I bought two books on ITIL, ITIL For Beginners and a study guide to help prepare me to take the certification exam. However I got this book in my hands first. After reading the first two chapters only, I was able to produce a service operation plan for the department linking service functions and service processes to roles and actual responsibilities to staff members. I may be an extreme case because of all my prior experience in both business and I.T. and it is said that ITIL teaches I.T Professionals to think like businessmen. I call ITIL common sense for I.T Professionals and even without taking the certification exam as yet I am already feeling that this is one of the best books that I have ever bought. If you are serious about functioning in an ITIL compliant I.T environment buy this book, you would be glad that you did.

Perhaps it's not totally the publisher's fault, but this is the driest subject material possible. I found that reviewing the material did not make me feel like I understood the subject matter, to the extent that it was like listening to a 2.5 hour long syllabus for a college course.

I can recommend this book, since the concepts and the definitions are well explained to introduce you to ITIL, don't expect for deep explanations or detailed analysis, this is not the goal of this book. Is the best point to start if you are trying to start to path to ITIL certifications.

Provides clear explanations of ITIL terms and concepts. A good place to start. Recommended reading for experienced IT professionals who unfamiliar with ITIL.

I highly recommend reading this book before taking an ITIL Certification class and/or test. It will give you a break down and understanding of all 5 Life Cycle Stages. It really helped understand all life cycle stages and gave me a head start and expectation of what the ITIL Foundation class was going to cover. I also found the practice exams very helpful.

The booklet gives the reader a quick overview of the different parts of ITIL and it does it quite well. It won't make you an expert but help you get a grip of what it's all about. For my own part I know now what part to focus on as well as understand what others are talking about.

Now, volume rendering is used in diverse applications such as fluid dynamics, meteorology, failure analysis, and molecular modeling. The list of applications grows everyday. This book is for everyone who would like to explore volume rendering and its uses. Those professionals who regularly inspect three-dimensional sampled data will benefit greatly from the concepts presented in this book. This book will aid students of computer science and engineering who wish to know the best way to interactively view three-dimensional sampled data sets. Anyone interested in volume rendering concepts such as classification, lighting, ray casting, and compositing will find this book useful. If you are interested in volume rendering, there are two compelling reasons to own this book. First, it is a comprehensive introduction to all the concepts you need to understand in order to volume render. Previously, the method of gathering all that information required a pile of IEEE transactions, a copy machine, and reams of paper. We have already done that and are anxious to pass the savings on to you. While reading all those transactions, we processed them for you. No obscure Greek letters are present, unless it is essential to the discussion. We culled the pertinent discussions while leaving the irrelevant information behind. We also augmented those discussions with our own experience. What we present to you is an organized, understandable, logical progression through the volume rendering pipeline. If you wish to alter the order of the operations in the pipeline, or modify the gradient function, or maybe even add another light source, you can do it. With each successive experiment, you will get a better understanding of volume rendering. Since this book cannot cover the esoteric aspects of volume rendering in great detail, we include a generous bibliography. Each chapter contains a section titled For Further Study which refers to the pertinent works in the reference section. The first chapter of this book opens with an introduction to volume rendering. We explain exactly what volume rendering is and is not. Some volume rendering applications are presented next. Since new applications appear daily, we are only able to scratch the surface. You may wonder where to get 3-D data to manipulate. The next section in Chapter 1 covers volume acquisition, representation, and storage. An introduction of the volume rendering pipeline rounds out this chapter. This pipeline will be the basis of the presentations in the rest of the book. The second chapter presents the framework for a basic volume renderer. As we go through the book, we will build upon this framework. This framework, as presented, will perform a simple maximum intensity projection. Chapter 2 also covers the concepts of three-dimensional transformation and projection. We follow the OpenGL model of viewing objects and extend this to volume data sets. This discussion will serve as the centerpiece of the basic volume rendering framework. The next four chapters ("Illumination and Shading," "Classification," "Interpolation," and "Compositing") will take you step by step through the volume rendering pipeline. Each chapter presents a number of algorithms available for use in that particular block. As with any algorithm, these algorithms all have certain trade-offs that must be weighed when implementing your volume renderer. Chapter 7 talks of volume slicing. It includes a discussion of multiplanar reformatting. Chapter 8 is dedicated to the trade-offs that must be addressed when implementing your volume renderer. The specific topics we address are rendering performance of a complete volume visualization system, quality, precision, and optimizations. This book is both a course and a resource guide. The main section of the book presents the methods of volume rendering. The appendices provide helpful resources for anyone involved in volume rendering. These resources include related periodicals, volume data sets and source code, and volume visualization organizations and conferences. Also included is a list of other software products to analyze. We have also included the Voxelator volume rendering extensions to the OpenGL API. The Voxelator is an API (Application Program Interface) that sets a standard for a volume rendering pipeline as presented in detail in this book. The information in this book comes from many different sources: books, articles, courses, and so on. It should prove to be a valuable reference manual. Prior to this publication, those who were interested in volume rendering relied on their filing system full of different volume rendering papers. We hope that this book will replace that filing system. Your best resource is the index at the back of this book. The code on the CD-ROM is C and was developed in the Win32 environment of both Windows NT and Windows 95. We developed it using Microsoft's Visual C++ compiler. Much of the code is portable to other platforms. In the past, interactive volume rendering was used exclusively by those with access to supercomputer capabilities. The dramatic improvements in CPU power have brought interactive volume rendering to the desktop. As more ingenious ways are invented to scan objects in three dimensions, volume rendering will be used in even more applications. This book covers very well all the processes from rough data to volume rendering. No pre-requisites, all the terminology is explained with a lots of schemes. It also covers OpenGL rendering, but as it was published in 1997, this part is not really up-to-date. Nevertheless it is a good introduction to volume rendering, even if it is quite useless for real-time volume rendering with OpenGL for example.

This book gives a good overview of the typical Volume Rendering by Ray Casting pipeline, and discusses the mathematics without going into too great a depth. The book gives many references on each subject so that the reader can then read more about the topics of interest. The only 'problem' is that the book never mentions a few popular algorithms, such as the Marching Cubes Algorithm.

I feel very fortunate to have this text so readily available. And I'm grateful for those who put this together and formatted it for Kindle. (FYI: this latest edition, published in 2016, includes all the Inspired Version Bible text). There are some real gems in here that aren't included in the LDS version of the King James Bible. My understanding of God's word and plan for mankind has increased greatly through reading this. It further strengthens my belief in the work and prophetic mantle of Joseph Smith.

As a Mormon convert who was raised Catholic (I like Pope Francis, by the way), it was while not difficult for me to accept extrabiblical revelation such as the Book of Mormon (of which I have a fairly strong testimony), at first quite another matter for me to deal with Joseph's inspired translation of the Bible. However the added text is often quite uplifting to me and centers on explaining elements of Christian faith that Mormons see as restored. The text that Joseph crossed out from the KJV is not removed from the Bible in the sense of being unavailable. The LDS Church includes the KJV among the four Standard Works in English. It is the first. So Joseph's textual changes only help and do no harm. I understand that those who are not LDS may feel differently.

Very thorough. Font size is perfect for my eyes. Recommended for every LDS/Mormon who appreciates Joseph Smith's Inspired Version of the Bible.

This is a good compilation, but if you are looking for a book that combines the entire King James version with the Joseph Smith translation, this is not it. It does not include the chapters and verses in the Bible that were not modified.

Great E-book and if you are a Mormon or just interested in the scriptures you will enjoy this!

Fantastic version of the Joseph Smith inspired translation of the Bible. I love the fact that all the verses of the Bible have been added so that you see the context of the corrections made by Joseph Smith under the direction of the Holy Ghost.
