I'm a die hard Jean Auel fan and I put off reading this book for so long because of what I heard about it. I agree with everyone else. This book is the worst out of the six and a total disappointment. The first 2 parts could have been cut out completely. There's only so much you can write (or read) about describing caves. Blah, blah, blah. I'm also sick of the repeat on Ayla's life story. After 5 books, I know it by heart. We all do. I'm sure I could start a fire with firestones, butcher a deer myself, and make my own prehistoric stuff after reading about it so much. (I guess if I get lost in the woods I have a good chance of surviving now.) I'm also tired of Ayla the Almighty. Why didn't she invent the wheel, design the first toilet, discover electricity, try out barrel racing with the horses, and split the atom while she was at it?After I read this book, I was glad it was over. I'll always like the first books in the series and continue to reread them, but this one? Ummm, no. I will never, ever read this book again.

There are many other reviews, here on all over the internet that exhaustively and hilariously cover how horrible this book is but if you've read all the other books leading up to this one then you're probably going to read it, just like I did, no matter what anyone else says.But hoo boy, is it bad.I'm more interested in how such a bad book gets published than I am in how it gets written. Did Auel just have such a good contract that she could write whatever she wanted and it had to be published? Was she implacable enough that no editor's notes would could derail her fixation on cave paintings? I mean Jesus Christ, it was like watching someone's vacation slides, only there were no slides. It was just a person describing the things they saw over and over: "There was a drawing of a horse facing to the right and then another horse, also facing to the right, then a mammoth, facing to the right." I also wonder if Auel has gone so far down the rabbit hole that it seems normal to mention 378 times that Ayla has a distinctive accent that makes her seem foreign. If you didn't read the 17,000 pages written about Ayla over the last 30 years, here's a reminder: she talks funny, and she's weird AF, but not weirder thatn Jean M. Auel.

I am almost 50 years old, and I was in high school when the first Earth's Children book (Clan of the Cave Bear) came out. I LOVED it. I was so excited for the second book (Valley of the Horses)which came out while I was in college... and it was even better. One of my favorite books ever. The third book (Mammoth Hunters) came out a few years later and I did love it... though I thought the whole love triangle was really contrived. 5 long years went by til we got the 4th installment (Plains of Passage), I was going nuts waiting for it... and I was disappointed. It was very, very repetitive, and over-long, and detailed to the point of tedium. But there was still a plot, and some conflict inherent in a long journey, and some exciting moments. I didn't hate it. TWELVE years went by til book 5 (Shelters of Stone), and it was so boring that I never re-read it (I have re-read the first 3 probably a dozen times in the past 30 years)and honestly I barely remember what happened. So I was thrilled to see this 6th and final book, but I was also worried.Sadly, I was right to be worried. This is so disappointing. I barely care about Ayla or Jondalar anymore. I feel like Jean Auel painted herself into a corner by making both of them so perfect and so good at everything and so in love.... there's no conflict unless it's forced and contrived. 'Cave Bear' had all the conflict of the Cro-Magnon girl living with the Neanderthal clan... very organic conflict. 'Horses' had the fabulous juxtaposition of the two difficult scary journeys and then Ayla and Jondalar meeting and discovering each other. Again, very organic. 'Mammoth' had some natural conflict - Ayla meeting her first group of people and admitting her background, but some forced conflict (love triangle) thrown in. It wasn't quite as good of a book. 'Passages' was the same way... there was some natural conflict (the tribe of women, meeting the flatheads, the glacier), but not really enough... so too much time was devoted to boring details ad repetitive pleasures. As the protagonists' lives become more perfect, the books become more boring. And 'Painted Caves' is boring. It took me weeks to get through it (I remember reading 'Horses' in 2 days!). Argh... this series has just been so drawn out....there's no story any more. Nothing to care about. No-one to fear for or root for. It's plotless and character-less and just empty and dry. It makes me sad.It seems like Jean Auel has no idea about 'what happens next' or how to keep the story urgent, or exciting, or even just interesting. (Why she takes 8000 pages to NOT tell any sort of a story is beyond me.) It's all blahblah Ayla is foreign and blahblah Ayla is exotic and blahblah she invented everything and tames animals and heals all and her daughter is perfect too and Jondalar who? And then it's all blahblah cave paintings and blahblah more cave paintings and blahblah description exposition blah. Then there's another piece of utterly contrived marital blahblah we don't communicate conflict. Culminating in blahblah Ayla has a Revelation and Teaches Her Wisdom To All.Also? Her daughter's stupid combo-name gives me nauseating flashbacks to Renesmee (if you don't know who I'm talking about, count yourself lucky) which makes me want to gouge my eyes out.BOTTOM LINE: Tedious, over-written, repetitive, and forced. A massive disappointment... but you may want to plow through it if you read the first 5 books and want closure.Oh Creb, Iza, Durc, Brun, Baby... I miss you guys!

Chapters are literally full of information and pictures that flow, support and facilitate one's interest in Quickbooks 2013. That being said, I would not say that this is a perfect volume--for users who have never used a computer or accounting software, I would advise them to be very thorough in following the directions and reading through the steps to complete a process, perhaps before attempting the process itself.I consider myself to be well above average when it comes to comprehending and tinkering with GUIs and navigating my way through software, but I was still able to make a few, albeit correctable, errors along the way when it came to entering in certain types of data. Because this software is used to process, keep records of and micro-manage transactions, you may not be able to go back and change the number associated with a transaction if one were to accidentally press "Enter" while selecting accounts and such--instead you will process the entire transaction and corrections may need to be made, or a new transaction drafted up altogether.The book also does a rather sloppy job at times with their formatting of pages and images. One step may be on page 1 and the illustration and explanations may be on the next page. I still like this book very much, but it helps if you are careful, patient and pay close attention to details.

Got this and went through the book for a class, easy to follow but just not my style. The way they just have you follow pictures made me not really grasp the steps I was following and retain the info, but rather just imitate pictures. I don't feel like I have a firm grasp on Quickbooks, although I definitely know more than I did before. I would rather find a Quickbooks for Dummies book if there is one.

Its good the program is included but you cant resell this book once you open and use the program according to the book.Software is good for 140 days once the code is inputted.

I enjoyed this author's Secret Lives of the First Ladies book and bought this for a friend who already knew a lot about the civil war. I expected he would enjoy all the little behind the scenes types of things that the first ladies book had included. Instead, this was more of a chronology of the war, just done person by person. The little anecdotes on the cover that inspired me to buy the book were some of the only interesting tidbits in the book. The person I bought it for already knew all about the battles and commanders and this was just all review to him with very few interesting new facts. I can't imagine who the audience for this book is because it's so little of what was promised by the title and cover and goes more to a historian's interest although surely they have already read other books on the subject. My friend was nice about it but I felt bad that the book didn't deliver what I'd thought it would and I feel like he wasted his time reading this just to make me happy.

...I might have come to love history as a subject a lot sooner. This book is just a series of biographical sketches of the main players on both sides of the American Civil War, but truly, it's one of the best history books I've read on the topic. O'Brien's prose has such a very light touch that it sometimes reads like something out of stand-up comedy act, but even though some passages are very funny, O'Brien seems to get his facts straight, and it would take someone better versed than I to find fault with his scholarship (and I've read a fair bit in the last ten years). Get it and enjoy!

I was so surprised to see such bad quality and just few pages. BEWARE.....

Overall it was helpful to see how the test would look and how the relationship between the answers were met.

Whenever I prepare for a test, I always ask myself what might be on the test. That helps me know what to study so I can get ready the best way I know how. For this particular test, that was a challenge and I didn’t know what to answer when I asked myself what would be on the test. Luckily, someone else had asked themselves the same question and they even did enough research to find out the answer. These practice questions were a great way for me to gain access to insight regarding this test. I still didn’t know what questions would be on the real test, but the practice questions gave me a little hope and insight. I knew what types of questions to expect and how they would be formed and asked. That helped me study the right material and it helped me understand what I needed to think through in order to do well on the test. After reading just a few of the practice questions, I put the practice tests away and studied hard. Then, I went back and took a test so I could see how I was doing with my studying. I didn’t read the second test at all until I was much closer to the real test time. I wanted to take it more last minute to give myself an idea of how I’d do. Since I did well, I had confidence that I’d do well on the real test as well. Not knowing the questions on the test is the hardest part. I still didn’t know them, but I felt like I knew as much as I could in advance with the help of these practice tests and questions.

Though I’m headlong in a fulfilling career as a public relations practitioner, I read this book on my morning train commute. Transparency dictates that I inform you Peter has been a friend for many years, and he asked me to read his book and provide a review. With that, understand I mean every word: this book, to me, represents “how to” literature at its best. But rather than teach you how to pursue and perfect a particular hobby or academic endeavor, Sims, in an approachable and “you-can-do-it” manner, provides a clear path to establishing and maintaining a career in home health care PT. One of the endearing aspects of the book is that Sims is open with his own career missteps so that the reader doesn’t make the same mistakes. As such, Sims is successful in welcoming the reader to relax and sit back as though he was giving a tour of his hometown to an old friend. Sims’ love for his job and his patients is admirable and authentic as the pages turn, and over the course of the book you begin to feel like he is actually pulling for you, the reader. While I certainly recommend the book to those considering a career in HHPT, I think a variety of medical pros should read it for an understanding of what is possible when you combine sincerity, empathy, and professionalism with persistence.
